After his big win in North Carolina, Barack Obama shifts into general election mode, reaching out to the voters who haven’t been voting for him. (And, by the way, Barack LOVES America.)
Hillary Clinton squeaked by in Indiana and says “It’s full-speed on to the White House!” Shot and a beer, please and hold the gas tax.
The North Carolina primary is scheduled for May 6, but voters can go to the polls starting today. In Greenville Barack Obama explains “early voting” to his supporters. It’s easy, he says, before nearly misspelling “early” when giving a toll-free number: 1-888-NCEARLY
Sound Bite: “I almost pulled a Dan Quayle there for a second.”
At a rally in Raleigh, NC today, Barack Obama said last night’s debate “was the rollout of the Republican campaign against me in November. It happened just a little bit early.” He says he’ll handle himself just fine against John McCain.
Sound Bite: “If the Republicans come at me, I will come right back at them. And I will come at them hard.”
North Carolina — and the rest of America — is in the dumper, says Hillary Clinton. Ain’t nothing working, she says. Every damn thing in the good old USA is broken. So she’s inviting North Carolinians to ask her some questions and she’ll offer some solutions.
Sound Bite: “This election isn’t about me, it is about you.”
