Obama Ads: “Backyard” and “Better Off”

Barack Obama has two new 30-second spots.

Backyard is aimed at Nevada voters. What’s the issue? Storing nuclear waste in the facility at Yucca Mountain. McCain is in favor, says the ad, while Obama is agin’ it. Hmmm. How about building some nice solar panels, windmills and transmission towers in the Nevada Desert? Nah. Not in my backyard.

Better Off: “How can John McCain fx the economy when he doesn’t he think it’s broken?” Fortunately, Barack Obama has an economic plan.

MORE: Here’s another “Yucca Mountain” ad (Dangerous”) aimed at Nevada voters. Same message: Take that nuclear waste and shove it.

Nevada Debate Highlights

The big three Democratic candidates sat down with NBC’s Tim Russert and Brian Williams last night in Las Vegas for what turned out to be a low-key debate.

Race? Not an issue. Barack Obama cited his “overzealous” supporters and staff for the recent dust-up, while Hillary Clinton said something about “exuberant and sometimes uncontrollable supporters.”

Some highlights:

Obama on the “politics of fear.”

Clinton on who is ready to be president on day one and on President Bush “begging” the Saudis — “How Pathetic!”

Edwards on US energy policy.

Obama Ad: “Algo grande está pasando en América”

The Latino vote may be the deciding factor in a number of states. That’s why Barack Obama is running this 30-second spot in Nevada. “¡Sí Se Puede!”

Here’s another spot — “Esperanza”
