If it’s good enough for Ted

Ted Kennedy, stumping for Obama, says only one member of the Senate — Ohio’s Sherrod Brown — doesn’t take the federal health insurance coverage.

“If it’s good enough for the President of the United State and it’s good enough for Dick Cheney and it’s good enough for every Republican in the Senate of the United States then it’s be good enough for everyone here in Youngstown, Ohio.”

C’mon, I dareya

John Edwards calls for Congress to override a threatened presidential veto of the bill that extends health insurance to uninsured children — as a stopgap until Edwards gets into office and delivers his promised universal health care.

He’s critical of George Bush for threatening that veto and I almost think he’s jealous of the White House and Karl Rove going after Hillary Clinton for her attack on Bush. What Democratic candidate wouldn’t want that attack?

The people as producer

I just spoke with ABC News about its upcoming debates and they’re going to include voter videos — and, one-upping CNN, they’re going to enable voters to also have a voice (if not a vote) in what is selected and shown.

Owen Renfro, a producer there, said most of the videos submitted here would be shared with the public, who can then rate and comment on them. Ratings won’t be the sole determinant of what is used, but it will influence ABC News. That’s all I’ve been wanting. The debate won’t be devoted to user video. Renfro said CNN spent a lot to get its YouTube deal. But moderator George Stephanopoulos will use voter videos alongside his own questions in quizzing the candidates. The first of ABC’s debates is with the Republicans in Iowa on Aug. 5.

I learned this because ABC called to ask my permission to use this video question on health insurance — originally sent in and unused from a Hillary Clinton morning town hall. I also submitted this one, which I sent to the YouTube debate, on broadband internet, and this one about whether the winner will stay online when in office.

* LATER: Thanks to a commenter, we see the video is already up at ABC. Here’s where you can go vote for the broadband video.

Hillary v. Harry

Faint Starlite, aka Esther, to whom we’ve linked before and who is popular for her tales of life and weight loss, makes a video about politics and why some don’t care. She asks why people will stand in line for Harry Pottery and not Hillary Clinton.

Sound bite: “Honestly, have you seen some of the videos the candidates are posting on their channels? It’s basically just infomercials — ads.” And: “Get debates and discussions going on. That’s what YouTube’s about.”

And here’s Esther on health care:

Take that, Michael Moore

In an unvideo (a sound clip with one picture) about health care, Mitt Romney tells Michael Moore that we don’t need no stinkin’ “castrocare.”
