Obama Ad: “Low Road Express”

John McCain is taking the “low road” in the campaign while Barack Obama offers “real solutions” for America’s energy problems. And a $1000 check, to boot!

Obama Ad: “Pocket”

In this new 30-second spot, Barack Obama says John McCain is in “Big Oil’s pocket,” just like President Bush.

Sound Bite: “Now Big Oil’s filling John McCain’s campaign with $2 million in contributions.”

The ad also promotes Hugo Chavez, er, Barack Obama’s plan to tax the “windfall profits” of oil companies and redistribute the revenue to American families via $1000 “rebates.”

No mention here of Obama’s newfound support (sort of) for offshore drilling by those oil companies. (Oops! Good-bye windfall profits. Hello new big rigs.)

McCain Ad: “Pump”

Who’s to blame for rising gasoline prices? “Obama . . . Obama . . . Obama . . .” At least that’s what this new ad from John McCain says.

Sound Bite: “Don’t hope for more energy. Vote for it.”

Dr. No

John McCain goes with an old-school James Bond approach to highlight his “energy security solutions” versus Barack Obama’s positions.

McCain Web Ad: “Energy Security”

John McCain says that as president he’s going “break with the energy policies” of the past and “achieve energy security for America.” How? He rounds up the usual suspects: wind, solar, biofuel, clean coal, nuclear and, oh yeah, drilling for more of that stuff that’s going for $138 a barrel.

Clinton Ad: “What’s Happened”

Despite the lack of support from Democratic leadership in Congress, Hillary Clinton keeps pushing the fantasy of a gas tax holiday paid for by taxing oil companies.

Sound Bite: “Hillary wants the oil companies to pay for the gas tax this summer so you don’t have to. Barack Obama wants you to keep paying.”

Hey, Indiana and North Carolina voters: Honk your horns if you think the oil companies will be picking up your gas tax this summer.

Gas Tax Gas

Hillary Clinton continues to push her plan for a gas tax holiday, calling for Congress to impose “an excess profits tax” on oil companies to pay for the lost revenue. Memo to motorists: Don’t wait by the pump.

Obama Ad: “Pennies”

Hillary Clinton’s support of a federal gas tax holiday is “political pandering” says a new 30-second ad from the Obama campaign.

Gas Wars

Hillary Clinton is in favor of suspending the federal tax on gasoline this summer and making up the lost revenue by going after the “windfall profits” of oil companies. (Right.) She criticizes Senator Obama for opposing the plan — “People are hurting, it’s time for a president who’s ready to take action now.”

Barack Obama says the Clinton (and McCain) plan to suspend the gas tax is “short-term, quick fix” Washington politics as usual.

Sound Bite: “We cannot deliver on a better energy policy unless we change how business is done in Washington.”

Fill ‘er up

Barack Obama’s latest commercial says nothing has happened since the oil embargo and gas shortage of the ’70s. He’ll change that.

Clinton Ad: “Serious”

Those damn oil companies don’t need no stinkin’ “tax subsidies,” says Hillary Clinton in this 30-second ad. Let’s “take” that money and invest in windmills and solar panels and biofuels and such.

Clinton Ads: Energy

Two new ads from the Clinton campaign focus on the Senator’s energy policy. (The future’s so bright you’ll have to wear shades.)

ENERGY FUTURE

Sound Bite: “I will create a strategic energy fund that will put $50 billion to work with wind, and solar and biofuels that help us move away from our dependence on foreign oil.

ENERGY INDEPENDENCE

Sound Bite: “And where would I get the money? I would take away the tax subsidies from the oil companies. They don’t need your tax dollars anymore.”

Obama Ad: “Quiet”

In a new ad running in New Hampshire, Barack Obama says “we can’t just tell people what they want to hear, we need to tell them what they need to hear.” And what do we need to hear? America is addicted to foreign oil and the polar icecaps are melting. Have a nice day.

Obama On Energy

Senator Barack Obama unveiled his comprehensive energy plan in a speech yesterday in Portsmouth, NH. After taking a few nuanced swipes at Hillary Clinton, Obama said that he’s the only candidate who can take on the “powerful interests.” His recommendations include raising fuel standards, promoting biofuels, developing renewable sources of energy, eliminating tax breaks for oil companies and funding research to develop a 500 mpg car.

Sound Bite: “Being President of the United States isn’t about doing what’s easy. It’s about doing what’s hard.”

With the people

The Edwards campaign has so far put up 22 videos from his tour of Iowa, neatly cutting together stump speeches on his stands on health care and paying for it, energy, labor, economic inequality, globalization, and more. Here he is stumping on energy (capping carbon emissions but not opening more nuclear power plants or supporting liquid coal or other new carbon-based fuels)

He also interacts with the folks of Iowa. Here’s Dean Pro, who has been married to Mother for “62 or 63 years:”

Sound bite: “That don’t look like no $70 haircut.”

And here’s young Robert, who used spray paint to good end, making a campaign sign:
