In an appearance on The Tonight Show last night, John Edwards tells Jay Leno he’s been clearing brush with his tractor, home-schooling his kids and playing basketball with Barack. Is he going to endorse either Obama or Clinton? Not yet.
Gallup looks at the demographics of John Edwards’ supporters and tries to determine whether they’re more likely to favor Obama or Clinton. Bottom line: no clear advantage for either candidate.
Today in New Orleans, where he started his campaign, John Edwards calls it quits. Edwards says he spoke to both Senator Obama and Senator Clinton and that they pledged “they will make ending poverty central to their campaign for the presidency.”

John Edwards is tired of being the third wheel in the Democratic race, so he’s squeaking about it in this clip set to “Dueling Banjos.”

The big three Democratic candidates sat down with NBC’s Tim Russert and Brian Williams last night in Las Vegas for what turned out to be a low-key debate.
Race? Not an issue. Barack Obama cited his “overzealous” supporters and staff for the recent dust-up, while Hillary Clinton said something about “exuberant and sometimes uncontrollable supporters.”
Some highlights:
Obama on the “politics of fear.”
Clinton on who is ready to be president on day one and on President Bush “begging” the Saudis — “How Pathetic!”
Edwards on US energy policy.
Even though he’s the only southerner in the race, John Edwards faces a tough battle in the South Carolina primary. Will these four 10-second spots help him get a seat at the big table?

Guess “which Democrat has never taken a dime of campaign money from Washington lobbyists?”

Guess “which Democrat opposed NAFTA and other trade deals that send American jobs overseas?”

In his latest commercial, John Edwards hauls out his father and his mill — a favorite of every speech of his. Almost makes us forget that his son went on to become a lawyer.
There’s a long road ahead, says John Edwards after coming in third in the New Hampshire primary. True enough, but the southerner could use a strong showing in the upcoming South Carolina primary.
Elizabeth Edwards says campaign is theater — and includes her husband’s in that observation — but says once in 10 years, you get to see what a candidate would be like as president when something important happens. That moment in this campaign, she says, came with the Bhutto assassination in Pakistan. She brags that every candidate went for the microphone but not her John, who went for the telephone.
Skip says Obama “speaks honestly from the heart at all times.”
This couple says John Edwards “speaks more to the people” and “won them over.”
In his post-Iowa caucus speech, John Edwards stays on message, bashing insurance companies, “corporate greed,” overpaid CEOs, oil companies and the Washington establishment. Oh yeah, his grandparents and his father worked in a mill.
In this 30-second spot running in New Hampshire, John Edwards says he’s “never taken a dime from a Washington lobbyist.”
