Any friend of her enemy is…

Brent Bozell, self-appointed media nanny, issues a statement defending Ann Coulter (see post below) against Elizabeth Edwards. This is as easy to score as professional wrestling. Bozell said:

As for Ann Coulter, don’t be fooled by the smoke and mirrors orchestrated by the liberal Democrat Elizabeth Edwards and her advisers in the Democratic Party. This attack on Ann Coulter, a conservative writer, is part of the liberals’ plan to squash free speech by conservatives. They want to silence Coulter, as well as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Michelle Malkin, and many others. Hugo Chavez does this type of censoring in Venezuela—but in America, we don’t.

Any enemy of hers is….

John Edwards’ campaign posts on YouTube a 15-second clip of Ann Coulter talking on Good Morning America about their candidate. If you can’t bear to click, here’s the sound bite: “So I’ve learned my lesson. If I’m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future I’ll just say I wish he was killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”

The background: She called him a “faggot”:

From Coulter, for a Democrat, insult is the sincerest form of flattery. Watch another candidate go after her in hopes of being called the antiChrist.

Fun Couple

Ann Coulter and Mitt Romney banter backstage at the Conservative Political Action Conference before Coulter’s speech lit up the joint. In between the photo flashes and handshakes, Romney tells a “joke” and talks about having a “good chat” with influential evangelical leader James Dobson.

Meanwhile, the John Edwards campaign has decided to make hay of the Coulter commotion, posting the video clip on its website and asking supporters to “help us raise $100,000 in ‘Coulter Cash’ this week to keep this campaign charging ahead and fight back against the politics of bigotry.”

The Girl Can’t Help It

You invite Ann Coulter to a speaking gig and you pretty much know what you’re going to get. Not surprisingly, she stayed in form the other day at the Conservative Political Action Conference when she referred to John Edwards as a “faggot.”

Condemnation of her remarks has been widespread, but Coulter is keeping the ball in play, telling the New York Times “C’mon, it was a joke. I would never insult gays by suggesting that they are like John Edwards. That would be mean.”
