Mr. Conservative

The National Review endorsed Mitt Romney yesterday. Mitt is pleased.

Sound Bite: “And they, like me, we believe that the only way we can have a bright future is if we bring together the coalition that Ronald Reagan built, which is a coalition of social conservatives, economic conservatives and foreign policy conservatives.”

The New Mr. Conservative

The Conservative Political Action Conference wrapped up its three-day meeting by giving Mitt Romney an edge over Rudy Giuliani in a straw poll of some 1700 conference participants. Here’s Romney on the state of conservatism in America today.

The results:
Romney - 21%
Giuliani - 17%
Brownback 15%
Gingrich 14 %
McCain - 12%

At last year’s conference, then-Virginia Senator George Allen won the straw poll with 22 percent of the vote. His presidential plans have since changed.
