As the campaign rolls on a candidate’s stump speech undergoes constant tweaking and revision based on events, the opponent’s strategy, polling, etc. Yesterday in Reno, Barack Obama delivered the latest version of his standard speech: the usual pie-in-the-sky on alternative energy, creating millions of “green jobs,” healthcare for all, improving the economy, lower taxes for everyone but the “rich.” In addition, he goes after John McCain (he’s George Bush, you know) and the Republican campaign strategy more aggressively.
Sound Bite: “I’ve got news for John McCain. My plan’s not going to bring about economic disaster. We already have economic disaster from John McCain’s president George W. Bush. And we can’t afford another four years or eight years of George W. Bush policies and that’s why we are going to beat John McCain in this election to put America on a new path.”
Sound Bite: “The McCain campaign wants to make the election about me because the issues aren’t on their side.”
Sound Bite: “So don’t get fooled by Paris and Britney and nasty emails that folks are sending out. Don’t get fooled by that.”
