The native vote

Obama speaks to Native Americans at the Crow Nation Reservation Montana and uses politically correct native speech: He says he has met with tribal leaders across the country (name two) and that he will have a good “government-to-government” relationship with the “nations.” He promises an annual summit of tribal leaders at the White House.

Obama on Iran

In a speech today in Billings, MT, Barack Obama forecefully restates his position that the U.S. should engage in direct diplomacy with Iran. (And don’t be calling him no naive appeaser.)

Sound Bite: “If we were willing to talk to Gorbachev, if we were willing to talk to Krushchev, then there’s no reason why we shouldn’t talk to Iran. Seems like common sense.”

Targeting Michelle Obama

The Tennessee Republican Party has produced a four-minute video that intercuts Michelle Obama’s statement that “for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country” with clips from Tennesseans professing their love of America. In an interview today, Barack said “Lay off my wife.”

Barack Obama: “Lay off my wife.”

Mr. Big Stuff

75,000 Oregonians turn out for Barack Obama in Portland on Sunday.

Thoroughly Modern Superdelegates

Lauren Wolfe and Awais Khaleel are not only the President and Vice President of the College Democrats of America but they’re also superdelegates. And today they effusively endorsed Barack Obama. On YouTube. Of course.

Dream Cars

Speaking in Warren, Michigan, Barack Obama says as President he can spur the growth of manufacturing in the U.S.

Sound Bite: “American automakers are on the move. But we have to do more. They can’t do it on their own. They need a partner in the White House.”

More Conversation on Race

Uh, on second thought, maybe Chris Matthews is right. Here’s Rev. James David Manning on “The Trinity of Hell” — Obama, Oprah and Rev. Wright.

Conversation on Race

Blacks and whites come together in Marietta, GA for a reasoned conversation on race in America.

Color Blind

Even though 65% of white folks are now voting for Hillary Clinton and 90% of blacks are voting for Barack Obama, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews thinks no one should be talking about race.

Sound Bite: “It’s almost like she’s [Clinton's] the Al Sharpton of white people.”

I’m the Strongest Candidate

Hillary’s still standing after her crushing victory in West Virginia and she’s still making her case to the super delegates.

Rat Boat

The Red State Update boys — Jackie Broyles and Dunlap — explain why Hillary is losing even though she’s winning.

A Bunch of White Guys Sitting Around Talkin’

Whattya mean Obama can’t attract white male voters? Here’re some white guys telling why they dig Obama. (Unfortunately they’re a bunch of liberal Democrats from Oregon. Wouldn’t you like to see these guys chatting up those West Virginia voters who think Obama is a Muslim.)

McCain’s green speech

John McCain goes to greenland, Oregon, to present his environmental plan.

Sound bite: “Whether we call it climate change or global warming, in the end, we’re all left with the same set of facts.” That is, he says, a likelihood of less water, more storms, less food.

Sound bite: “We know that greenhouse gases are heavily implicated in climate change.”

His solution: new incentives vs. new taxes.

Sound bite: “Wiser ways and a healthier planet.”

He likes nuclear. And he can pronounce it!

A New Electorate?

The current narrative being peddled by Clinton surrogates is that “working-class” white Democratic voters won’t vote for Barack Obama in November. True? Not true? Who knows? But it looks like the Obama folks aren’t taking any chances. They’re launching a national effort to register as many new voters (Obama voters, that is) as possible.

You Say It’s Your Birthday

Mad Mike Gravel is 78 today. And he’s partying hearty. Then it’s on to the Libertarian Party Convention on May 22 in Denver!
