The Bill card

The Obama campaign has done a masterful job of making Bill Clinton an issue as much as an asset. After Blll hints at dismissing Obama’s South Carolina victory by comparing it with Jesse Jackson’s win there, Obama hints that Bill is playing racial politics.

Jeff, you’re obsessed with this idea that Obama is playing the race card. Stephanopolous asked the question! He asked Obama point blank if Clinton is talking about race, and Obama gave a wishy washy answer that somehow ended up on the sub-prime mortgage crisis. He could of said, “Yeah, he’s writing off South Carolina because it’s got a large black vote, and it’s despicable.” But he didn’t. Obama should be outraged at Clinton’s comments, and all he does is laugh it off.

Bill Clinton is the guy playing the race card, and that much is plainly obvious. Why would Obama want to bring up race in this election? What does he have to gain from that?
