Not My Cross to Bear

Appearing on “Fox & Friends” this morning, Ron Paul is asked about Mike Huckabee’s “floating cross” ad. The congressman quotes Sinclair Lewis:

Sound Bite: “When fascism comes to this country, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross.”

Apostate-alooza

Some former true believers renounce their faith in false prophets and embrace the chosen one.

Caucus Vérité

YouTube is teaming up with the Des Moines Register to solicit caucus videos from Iowa voters. Here’s the pitch:

Share your opinions, campaign trail videos, interview other Iowan voters, or offer your predictions for what will take place in the most exciting caucus season in decades. Then on January 3rd, document your caucus experience and show the rest of the world what the Iowa caucuses are all about.”

The Des Moines Register’s YouTube site is here.

Bipartisan Hillary

Hillary Clinton brags about getting the National Guard and Reserve health insurance by “reaching across the aisle” to work with the Republicans. It’s abot leadership and accomplishment, that’s the message.

Keeping the Huck in Christmas

ABC News’ Jake Tapper is surprised that Mike Huckabee goes so far as to invoke Christ’s name in his campaign commercial:

He borrowed the red wardrobe from Ron Paul, who also brazenly mentions Christmas.

One Degree of Kevin Bacon

Actor Kevin Bacon is supporting John Edwards and he scares Iowans at an Edwards rally by singing “Footloose.”

Sound Bite: “Cut loose . . . Footloose . . . kick off your Sunday shoes.”

God running for office

Is it my imagination or is religion on stage more in this election than in memory? Not only are the Republicans tripping over themselves to get God’s vote but yesterday we had Hillary Clinton’s friends talking about her faith and now here’s Barack Obama on religion:

Sound bite: “Should we just stick with the Sermon on the Mount, a passage so radical that its doubtful our Defense Department could survive its application.”
