Getting Tod’s endorsement

A nervous teacher named Tod explains at length (3:30., to be exact) why he’s not supporting Hillary Clinton — he didn’t like her answers about Social Security — but is endorsing Barack Obama. And then he introduces Obama to an audience at a senior center in Iowa. It then takes him another 4:30 to get to the point. Obama opposes privatization. He opposes cutting benefits or raising the retirement age. He will tax the highest paid Americans “a little bit more,” raising the ceiling on taxation from $98,000 — what what, he doesn’t say. “If you put your trust in me, if you give me your hand and your heart,” he says.

For comparison, here’s Clinton three months ago also opposing privatization and also opposing borrowing from the Social Security trust fund. “Society Security is not a big a crisis as Medicare,” she says.
