Obama Defense Priorities

Don’t call Barack Obama a tax-and-spend liberal. As President, he’ll be a cost cutter — when it comes to the Defense Department. Obama says he’ll stop spending in Iraq by ending the war and he’ll cut investments in “unproven missile defense systems.” Obama also pledges that he “will not weaponize space” and he will set a goal of “a world without nuclear weapons.”

Sound Bite: “I don’t posture on defense policy and I don’t take money from federal lobbyists from powerful defense contractors.”

This is my first time checking out your blog but I wanted to say… Very cool.

Using video evidence where the candidates are actually speaking seems to me to be the most effective way to get a real record of what they think on the issues… because how can you hide from your own face? Looking forward to more postings!

After 1991, Hillary Clinton learned someting that that Obama has yet to learn:that the pampered political class in this country serves at the pleasure of the military-industrial-prison complex, which consists of favored industries and favored lobbyists who buy the elections.

Why else would Clinton ever have voted for war way back when? And why would she vote for it again? And why else would she have taken impeachment off the table? I mean, duh!

For the same reason that I submit an Obama coronation is an abject impossibility. [He’s young enough, and perhaps even idealistic enough, to be forgiven for the naivete he affects. But he won’t be around long if he continues to act on that naivete.

Speaking of the unspeakable, obvious reality, check out “Rawstory.com” for an article from the London Sunday Times reporting that, for the first time since the 1800s, the Brits have now achieved a higher standard of living than we have.

As shocking as this may seem, I take great solace in knowing that if the rednecks running the show here ever succeed in stemming the flow if illegals, I’ll still be able to get my toilets cleaned for a pittance - and now by card-carrying US citizens who just manage to scrape by and whose health insurance and old age care I won’t have to bother to contribute to! What greater news could there be than that?

Besides, the really important thing is that, though the average
American may be poorer, the USA can still kick Great Britain’s ass any day of the week, and twice on Sunday. And that’s the true measure of the greatness a country, not whether we who are comfortable deign to give low lifes a shot at a reasonable life.
