It is of extreme importance in every society to encourage civic interest and responsibility in the youth. It seems to me quite reprehensible and irresponsible to say "The youth tend to vote more liberal than I prefer, therefore I discourage any attempt to increase their voter turnout." I can't believe that anyone interested in a representative government would oppose such initiatives.
