VoterVid: Debate Questions

Voter video questions for the CNN/YouTube debate have now passed 2000. Here’s a sampling of some recent submissions:

20 years of Bush-Clinton-Bush leadership has led to deep divisions, says James from Las Vegas. He asks Senator Hillary Clinton why Americans shouldn’t choose another candidate.

Adam uses creative graphics to ask about the national debt and social security.

Michael from Altoona, PA asks Barack Obama how will he respond, if nominated, to inevitable attacks from the Republican candidate if “you refuse to attack back due to your so-called new politics.”

Remember that overheard conversation between John Edwards and Hillary Clinton about jettisoning some of the “second-tier” candidates from future debates? Zennie from Oakland, CA wants to put that issue on the table. You hope this question is used just to watch Mike Gravel’s and Dennis Kucinich’s heads explode.

And perhaps the toughest question of all comes from Cindy in PA: “Can you rattle off” the names of all 43 US Presidents?

Poverty Tour - Part 4

Deftly dropping Bobby Kennedy’s name, John Edwards tells a group of Iowans about his just-concluded poverty tour. Message: George Bush loves rich people; John Edwards loves poor people.

Sound Bite: “I want George Bush to come to these places that I just visited — with me — and look in the eyes of the people that I saw and tell them why he has turned his back on them.”

Barnyard Epithet

Talkingpointsmemo.com posts a clip of a younger, more hirsute Rudy Giuliani running for Mayor of NYC in 1992 against David Dinkins. In a fiery campaign speech, Rudy says “bullshit.” Somehow he still won the election.
