Gallup: Dems Dilemma
Published by April 23rd, 2007
According to a recent Gallup poll (April 13-15), the Democratic Party is well-positioned to win the Presidency in 2008. When asked ”If the election were held today, would you vote for the Democrat for President or the Republican,” the generic Democratic candidate won easily - 51% to 37% (11% no opinion).
Unfortunately for the party, when it comes to specific candidates, the voters flip-flop. When Gallup put Clinton and Giuliani head-to-head (April 11-15), Giuliani prevailed 51% to 46% (1% no opinion). Other matchups of frontrunners have yielded similar results.
