<description>I really like the second question! Considering the president does a weekly radio address -- and seriously, how many people listen to that -- why not knock out the occasional low-key webcam grab, too?

The first question is totally legitimate, but it set off a tangential train of thought in my mind, and only because my guy* (give you two guesses) is often written about as the candidate with the most detailed and credible answer to that; I've seen it enough times on TV and heard it enough in person that I can practically mouth the response along with him. My tangential thought is this: for the 2008 campaign, it seems that YouTube is ripe enough yet new enough to make prezconference an exciting and genuine new way for candidates to connect with voters -- and the voters availing themselves of prezconference few enough in number to make it realistic for the candidates to do so. But to use your Iraq question again, "What next?" What about 2010 Senate races or the 2012 presidential campaign? What if 5 new prezconference questions show up a day? Then what standard will we hold candidates to for completeness, frankness, personableness, and selectivity if and when they respond to some questions but not all? And how will we (I don't know who "we" is yet -- all youtubers? bloggerati? Jeff Jarvis and James Kotecki?) moderate and/or filter the flood? There are bound to be duplicate questions, overlapping questions, and downright wacky questions. How much of their schedule can we reasonably demand be carved out to sit in front of a webcam and answer all of our questions individually? Will proxy responses be acceptable (i.e., appropriate snippets of existing footage being posted by campaign staff/volunteers)?

I'm just musing here, something to keep in mind as we watch (whether) prezconference grow(s). It's just something that came to mind when I realized that I could easily Tubesock existing YouTube footage, or upload some of my own footage from the road, and post my guy's* response to your question before dinner, but that it would probably be rejected by the prezconference audience as disingenuous because it was just re-packaged stock footage, and not a personal, direct response to the questioner.

Anyway, there's the thought for a future discussion, perhaps. I do hope Q#2 gets some responses...and follow-through in 2009.
