Jump Cuts

An A+ from Rosie O’Donnell: The founders of Student Scholars for 9/11 Truth buttonhole Barack Obama after a recent address at New Hampshire’s Keene State College and politely ask some conspiracy questions. The candidate dances away gracefully.

Payback: Phillip de Vellis (aka ParkRidge47), the guy who made “Vote Different” - the 1984 Apple ad mash-up attacking Hillary Clinton - gets mashed up himself.

Hot Button: Rudy Giuliani’s comments on abortion in his recent interview with CNN’s Dana Bash are generating numerous clips on YouTube.

The MySpace (OurSpace) primary

MySpace announcing a presidential primary for its members is more than a publicity stunt. It exposes the absurdity of geographic primaries in this connected age. MySpace members share a lot more interests and concerns with teach other than they do with their neighbors; I share more with my fellow internet residents than Jersey residents. But then, the rush to get every primary moved ahead of every other primary also reveals the absurdity of the system. All these states are attempting to get more attention (visits and ad revenue) and influence in the election.

But now MySpace steals some of that thunder, for candidates will now need to spend some effort and, yes, money there to make sure that Obama doesn’t walk away with the virtual election and the subsequent rush of publicity (just watch: the winner on MySpace will end up being announced on network news shows; it would be more newsworthy than last night’s NBC Nightly News report on the voting campaign for Sanjaya).

Vetoes are his friend

Mitt Romney makes another commercial (is he paying to air them anywhere or just broadcasting them on YouTube, I wonder) about how he likes vetoes and can’t wait to get his hands on Washington.

¿Cómo se dices oops?

Newt Gingrich eats considerable crow via YouTube after dissing Spanish. He says he’s taking Spanish lessons. I want to hear from his teacher. The Daily Reel has the tale. (By the way, I don’t speak Spanish, so if that headline translation is wrong, please blame Google and correct me, por favor.)
