A most personal video

It took time but the Edwards campaign put up the video of the press conference with Mr. and Mrs. Edwards about her health and his campaign.
The Times reports today about the differing personal reactions to their announcement, their courage, and their decision.
For many people, the discussion is personal and visceral — the difference between wisdom and intelligence, and how best to spend a finite time with a loved one whose health and life are under siege by disease. Is Mr. Edwards now the presidential race’s real embodiment of hope in all its audacity, or a symbol of blind ambition? A new profile in courage or a standard-bearer for callous disregard?
And I would add, a husband and father or a candidate first? The comments at YouTube and at the Edwards site are, of course, quite supportive, sympathetic, and admiring. Here's a voter's video offering support. I also saw another video -- which I won't dignify with a link -- using the opportunity to attack Elizabeth Edwards because her husband was a malpractice lawyer. This is the bad that comes with the good of the open forum. But the good that comes from that is the disgust every comment expresses toward the sad and sick moral midget who put up that video. Good will out.
