One of the emerging storylines for the Republican race goes like this:
“Sure, Rudy is riding high in the polls now, but most voters don’t know that he:
- supports gay rights
- is pro-abortion
- favors gun control
- has been married three times
- was married to his second cousin
- is estranged from his children
- lived with a gay couple when he split from wife #2
- dressed in drag and kissed Donald Trump
- is a poor judge of character (See Bernie Kerik)
- ran for New York City Mayor as a Liberal!!
- didn’t do such a great job on 9/11 and here are some firefighters who say so.”
- and on and on.
According to the scenarios sketched by the “Stop Rudy” folks, once conservative Republicans find all this out, they won’t vote for him.
We’ll see. Meanwhile, the drums are already beating (see recent stories in The Politico and The New York Times). The frontrunner has been targeted. So, as we wait for the serious shelling to begin, here are a couple of isolated rounds that indicate what’s to come.
